Week in Review: Momma needs a new pair of shoes!

Okay, I’m making some sort-of an effort to write my weekly reviews in a timely manner. So here we go.
Made it to the IMA Monday for and easy 45 minute ride on the bike (finally!!!!). Nothing amazing but nice to be back. Best part of the day was my hour of flow/restorative yoga thanks to Jasyoga.
Tuesday was an easy recovery run. Really nothing exciting. Oh except I had to have my first CT scan in like a million years. The good new… no more barium!
I’m having some stomach issues so the docs have been taking all kinds of pics… lucky me.
It made my Wednesday workout out a little weird, but it all went well. You can check out the full report here. It was a combo workout, 20 minute tempo followed by hills.
I ordered some new kicks last week since mine were starting to feel dead. I was expecting them Friday but they arrived Tuesday! Yippee! I thought about wearing them to the track but we were running on a trail (for the hills) and yes I am that girl, I didn’t want to get them dirty. So I tested them out Thursday.
I planned on running an 8k on Saturday and opted to run a little shorter on Thursday (8 instead of 10). If felt pretty good (thanks to the new kicks), so I’m not sure what happened on Friday.
Friday. Ugh Friday. My quads and hipflexors gave up on me. Really. My legs were so sore and I’m still not sure what happened. I planned on running 5 or 6 miles and called it a day at 3… and desperately hoped my legs would miraculously heal come Saturday morning.
Saturday Cinco De Mayo! Most of my friends were running the half (it’s a REALLY fast course) but I needed and 8k or 10k. I love Saturday races so I couldn’t pass it by.
The race was in Snoqualmie. It’s pretty there:
I snapped this pic on my warm-up run while I was busy obsessing over how my quads and hipflexors felt and questioning every step whether or not I should run.
On a side note, I really need to start an over-analyzers anonymous support group (OAA- been thinking about this for years now… really.)

… yep… almost one minute off my PR (from the hilly course)… and I was the first woman! Yippee! AND I won me a new pair of shoes! Two new pairs of kicks in one week?! Every girl’s dream!
But seriously… I promise a race report soon.
I topped the week off with and extra slow mid long run. If felt pretty good.
Last big week of training before my race… let the taper begin (2 full weeks)!
