Week in Review: What day is it again?
I must be losing my mind because this week was one hot mess. I couldn’t keep track of what day it was but some how I managed to find Sunday.
I was lost all week. I thought Monday was Tuesday, Tuesday was Wednesday… not sure what happened with Wednesday than then it was Friday. What about Thursday? I don’t know.
The best part of the week? I have a new Facebook profile pic. I know… random.
Here are the rejects:
The only other highlights of this messed-up week were a better than expected welcome back to the track workout and a better than expected welcome back long run. You can really stop reading here, but if you still want more details, here we go! (Be warned… is a bit of a snooze).
Focus (really much more challenging than it should be.)
I’m in the homestretch here with work (hence my state of mind) so I knew the week was going to be a bit crazy. So I kicked the week off the best way possible: a little yoga. Everyone was dragging so we did a nice restorative session. I could have just taken an hour long nap.
Tuesday I made it out for a super, super soggy 4 miler and some sprint mechanics. Seattle drivers forget how to drive in the rain so I was nearly hit by 3 or 4 cars (in full daylight). So next time I need to remember my reflective vest. For reals.
I was SO happily surprised with a short workout out Wednesday: 2 x 1 mile (3 min recovery) 12-15 min jog and 4 x 200m. Yep kids, that’s a combo workout.
I opted for sleep on Thursday morning and I was trying to keep my mileage down. As a result I opted for a short run to the gym in the PM, weights (3 sets of 12 reps) and then run home.
Friday was a busy day at work so no run, plus I was being responsible at keeping my mileage down.
Saturday was gloomy and wet. I ran 3 with some sprint mechanics. I have a confession though, I made a poor running life choice. Yep. I ran in my Brooks Pure shoes.
Brooks and I are just going to have to see other people for a while (we’ve been seriously involved for the last 4 years or so). By the end of 3 very short miles the numbness in my foot was back. It was BACK!!! Ugh!!! I haven’t had any problems in months!!! Looks like my foot prefers Mizuno’s. So goodbye brand new shoes. It was nice knowing you… except too bad for me I’ve own you too long to return you. Boo.
As I stared at the ceiling in bed on Saturday night I wondered if should take a few days off since my foot was all tingling. Before I could finish that thought I was off in dreamland, and I was a few miles into my long run Sunday morning before I remembered by foot’s woes. Luckily my foot felt fine so I just figured I’d see how far I could make it.
10 glorious mile later all was well (huge sigh of relief). And… we were FAST!!! Well, fast for me. Here are all the details.
I capped the week off with my second weight workout Sunday night.
To sum it all up, I might not know what day of the week it is, but I have a sweet new profile pic with balloons and a solid 30 miles under my belt.
Next week: Indy. Bring on eastern time… I can do this… right?
run pretty run fast
